South West Jutland with the Waddensea and the marsh are an eldorado for anglers

Snap & break

South West Jutland with the Waddensea and the marsh are an eldorado for anglers. The area offers a large number of small lakes with put and take, the finest streams and of course the Waddensea. What used to be known as a leisure-time activity for idlers and small-town eccentrics has become a sport for everyone, and just as popular as other sports.

There are a few rules however, for anglers in the streams of South West Jutland.
Everyone aged 18-67 years has to buy the national government fishing licence. Moreover, it is necessary to buy a fishing day card for the stream where you wish to angle.

Brede Å

is one of the best of the Danish open waters. Brede Å has been restored so the natural meandering of the stream and the many natural spawning grounds of the salmon are back, thanks to the largest stream restoring project in Northern Europe. The stream is known for very fine sea trout, but has much else to offer: fresh water trout, stalling, pike and eel.

Brøns Å

comprises a branching system of streams and small drainage canals. All these streams harbour a large stock of natural fry. The entire stretch of the stream contains: fresh water trout, sea trout and pike.

Rejsby Å

is the ideal place for anglers who seek peace and quiet in the expansive landscape. The stream has a small stock of natural trout fry, and a few salmon are caught every year.

Vidå

has a system of 90 km of fishing water and 25 species of fish. Both the fly-fisher and the spinner have a good chance of hooking a fish.
There are several good put and take lakes in South West Jutland, where the fishing day card is also required, before you can fish in accordance with the ethics and regulations of the lake. The fish stocks vary in the different lakes, but most lakes are stocked with rainbow trout.
Generally, the fishing lakes do not allow angling with dead or living bait which has been caught outside the lake. The use of maggots, larva and fish feed is rarely permitted.
